Stripping your comforter is a laundry soaking method that removes grime, body oils, and lotions more effectively than a washing machine or dry cleaner. This method ensures your comforter is cleaned thoroughly and should be done 2-3 times a year.
Fill the bathtub with the hottest water possible.
Dissolve the stripping mix in the hot tub water: ¼ cup baking soda, ¼ cup borax, and 2 cups of liquid laundry detergent or ½ cup of powder laundry detergent.
Add the comforter and submerge it.
Soak for 2-24 hours, stirring occasionally.
Drain the tub and squeeze out the excess water from the comforter.
Immediately following stripping, wash the comforter on a gentle cycle without detergent.
Dry without dryer sheets. Use tennis or dryer balls instead to fluff up your comforter.
